History
I am a traditional coffee producer, I was born in 1959 in Planadas, department of Tolima. I grew up in a coffee farm, but when I was 18 years old, I moved to Caqueta, to work in a cattle property. After several years in the cattle farm, I moved to Garzon, Huila, where I finally had the chance to buy my farm. In Garzon I met the woman who is now my wife, her name is Maria, and we had 7 children, 3 boys and 4 girls. All of them have studied in the school thanks to the coffee. I am an active associate of the Cooperative COOCENTRAL in Garzon.
Environmental Care
I am committed with the preservation of the natural resources, my farm got the Rainforest Alliance Certification, and and I am conscious that thanks to this certification I have seen a change of attitude in the people in relation to the handling of the natural resources.
Coffee Processing Information
I pick red, ripened and healthy cherries. Cherries are depulped using small quantities of water. Fermentation process takes around 16 hours, then I wash with fresh water and drying process is done in parabolic driers.
