Mario Ponciano Velasco López/ His parcels are located East Santiago Nuyoo’s municipality, in Tierra Azul community. The system he uses for his coffee is organic and this has been his work for 15 years. He noticed that after moving to organics, his coffee plants are livelier, he observed more variety of plants and animals. There is a lot of labor involved, but the results are very satisfying.
Antonia Valeria Ortiz España/ Antonia’s finca is located in Santa María Yucuhiti community. It is needed to walk one hour for getting to it. Since 10 years they have been working on an organic system. The finca is subdivided into 4 parcels. Her family is dedicated to the coffee production since 30 years but the coffee was introduced to the community 100 years ago, this has been the main source for the family. With her husband procreated 6 children, only three have studies, the youngest is still studying high school.
Being on the list of the best growers due to the quality of our coffee make us different, not all the growers are willing to send their samples for contests. We did, we won and we are getting recognition of the work done on the fields. We are very proud.
