Finca las Nubes - Pante Tres - Luis Antonio Lopez Aguilar My grandfather is from Oaxaca, but he decided to buy the finca in Chiapas due to the climate quality and soil composition: ideal for growing coffee. My family has owned the farm since 1956 and now we belong to the third generation of this family business.
My grandfather and my father began to grow this coffee on May 3rd, 1956. At the beginning they cultivated Typica variety that came from the Pluma Hidalgo region, in Oaxaca where they owned a finca called la Oaxaquena since 1920. They also used Bourbón seeds from Blue Mountain from Jamaica. Since the beginning of Finca las Nubes and Finca Santa Cruz, we used agriculture techniques based in organic and sustainable principles. In 1970 we begin to export to Japan and Germany. In 1997 we got our organic certification by Demeter and in 2001 and 2002 we obtained OCIA and Naturland certificates. Nowadays, we have the following certifications: IMO JAS, IMO Shade Grown and Bird Friendly, IMO Union Europea, IMO Fair for Life, IMO NOP (USDA), Rainforest Alliance and Kosher.
We feel an enormous satisfaction being selected for Cup of Excellence this is the result of a long life working with passion and love for coffee.
