TELL US THE FARM HISTORY:
I have 13 years of having the farm, which has been quite hard work because when we bought it, didn’t have access by car and there was not a coffee tree. I've been doing the farm gradually to complete sowing virtually the entire estate. I planted about 30 manzanas of land* of the coffee and production methods. There is a little more than 15 manzanas of land in development which possibly next year is beginning to bear fruit. There are 25 manzanas of land of natural forest, it is a native wild forest area, which houses fauna and flora. The varieties that exist in the farm are Pacamara, Bisalchi, Catymore, Hybrid and Java. Java still not in production methods.
The amount or production of the estate is approximately 400 QQ green coffee, of which the majority has a great quality.
FAMILY GENERATIONS
In fact this property was acquired again for me, because it belonged to my grandfather in the 80's. I bought it in 1998 and came back to do the farm that was completely destroyed. The farm work basically involves the whole family and depends on the income they can generate. The family member’s dependent on the farm is 4 people. With hard work and effort and the farm is producing since the early years it was basically zero profit. Not only because the coffee was small but prices International Coffee
WHICH IS YOUR SECRET FOR WINNING THE COMPETITION?
The secret is basically to make the procedure well, from cutting coffee which is collected only very red to storage. It requires a lot of quality control in all processes. The people involved in the various processes must be trained and aware of how strict should be to qualify that Require Quality. The samples which are analyzed must study them and review them several times in order to thoroughly evaluate them.
HOW DO YOU FEEL OF BEEN ONE OF THE WINNERS?
Very happy as this is the reward for hard work of several years. This is a compliment and satisfaction for all those who were involved in the process. This is not one winner but a chain of people.
IN WHAT YOU WILL BE INVESTING PROFIT TO BE OBTAINED FROM ELECTRONIC AUCTION?
Proceeds will be invested in the purchase of a better wet milling, which allows us more cans per hour pulping and be more efficient. One problem we have now is that the pulping a much bites beans, which impairs the quality. On the other hand we take too much time pulping Coffee.
HAVE YOU PARTICIPATED IN THE COMPETITION BEFORE? HAVE YOU WON PREVIOUSLY?
In 2013 we were in 14th place. In 2014 and we stayed in 11th place and saves that were in the 8th place.
Every day we are improving and producing better coffee. This benefits us as keep the consistency and gives us to know our farm world. In turn inspires to continue browsing the top. We know it takes hard work but it is part of our commitment to our buyers. It takes a lot of motivation that every year we getting better places.
WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE CUP OF EXCELLENCE PROGRAM?
I think it's an excellent opportunity to become known as a producer and publicize the Farm. It is the most popular Competition and joined the guild of coffee where compete the best coffees from around the country to be evaluated by national and international judges in order to select the best coffees. It should be noted that judges have extensive knowledge and experience in the field. We have experienced that buyers are pending who are the winners and who are the ones who remain consistent.
