History of the farm
Fazenda Forquilha do Rio is located in the city of Espera Feliz, in the Matas de Minas region, in sight of the Caparao National Park, between the Serra do Caparao and the state of Espirito Santo. The name Fazenda Forquilha do Rio comes from it being at the confluence of the Rio Cachoeirao and the Rio Preto, thus forming a “Fork in the Rivers.” The labor on the farm is familial agriculture. With very low coffee prices, in 1999 investment in quality coffee was begun, and this was when wet method processing was started, making pulped natural coffee. We have been improving ourselves by making specialty coffee.
Concern about quality
In order to maintain the quality of the coffee, we worry about pulping the coffee as quickly as possible, thus maintaining the quality of the product. It is important to keep the patios and greenhouses clean and store the coffee in correctly prepared granaries in order to maintain the quality after it is stored.
