NAME AND LOCATION OF THE FARM:
The farm El Barril is located in the mountains of Achuapa in the municipality of San Fernando department of Nueva Segovia.
El Barril is a agro-eco-tourist farm because of its location in the protected area of the Cordillera Dipilto-Jalapa in the foothills Mogoton area.
TELL US THE FARM HISTORY:
It was buy since 1996, the area of the farm consists of 10 manzanas of land between pine and hardwoods. Since 2002 with the establishment of the area of coffee varieties Maracaturras and Maragojypes which currently produces 50 quintals green coffee quality which I think constantly improve and increase production.
FAMILY GENERATIONS:
Farm El Barril is part of a family farm called Brisas del Mogoton. This farm was purchased in 1996 by Don Mauricio Jimenez, who inherited this property to their children Bayardo, Lenny, Tatiana, Mariela, and Ramon
Bayardo is in charge of the farm Lenny and Ramon are directly involved in logistics and Francisco Javier Valle, joined the company in 2014, so farm barrel is a result of the efforts of families, workers are engaged in the production of specialty coffee.
WHICH IS YOUR SECRET FOR WINNING THE COMPETITION?
One is the ecological conditions of the area (altitude, precipitation, soil type, etc.) and good crop management (fertilization good, good cultural practices, good management of pests and diseases.) A good Wet Mill (good choice of court, pulping good, good fermentation and a good washing and drying once the courtyard which was held on African beds transport and whit shade)
HOW DO YOU FEEL OF BEEN ONE OF THE WINNERS?
Be the 19th place winner from Cup Excellence is an honor and by the joint effort we were able to achieve excellent quality of coffee. Thank God everything went well and my partners family Jimenez.
