Twenty years ago with my own efforts and with the help of my family, I acquired 4 manzanas of land with coffee cultivation, with such production started to grow and the production of those 4 manzanas of land and with several financings to date possess 18 manzanas of land to coffee, of which 15 manzans of land are coffee grower and 3 manzanas of land are under development.
Most have had production is 450 quintals in the entire property and we have Red and Yellow Catuai and Catimor. Inside the farm there are Musáceas and citrus. I currently own a Wet Mill My plans are to build a drying yard and buy machinery for pulping, a little bigger than I have.
FAMILY GENERATIONS:
Over 20 years with the help of the family I got the farm. My brother works with me in the coffee milling process. My family is formed with four members, three children and one grandchild, which currently do not develop work on the farm, as they are studying, and my oldest daughter supports me in the coffee season. The effort that I do on the farm is for them, is very big because I'm a single mother, and I hope they want to engage in sustainable coffee production, respecting nature.
WHICH IS YOUR SECRET FOR WINNING THE COMPETITION?
The first is the selection of the grain, because once washing is critical to keep a good coffee. Therefore, the way to cut the coffee is important to select the very red coffee. It notes that the way the coffee washing is performed with clean water from water hole. In addition to all the work I supervise coffee.
HOW DO YOU FEEL OF BEEN ONE OF THE WINNERS?
I feel happy, content and fulfilled, because I can get to meet my goals and make my wet mill with all conditions. I really like the field, and I feel no difficult to be in an environment that largely dominate men, and I encourages that my coffee this among the best in Nicaragua .
IN WHAT YOU WILL BE INVESTING PROFIT TO BE OBTAINED FROM ELECTRONIC AUCTION?
Improve my housing, improve the structure of the wet mill and always support the social part from the Evangelical Church.
HAVE YOU PARTICIPATED IN THE COMPETITION BEFORE? HAVE YOU WON PREVIOUSLY?
Last year I participated but failed to get either the first 150. Previous experience helped me improve the cutting part and milling because one aspires to enter the top places and strives to improve their coffee.
WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE CUP OF EXCELLENCE PROGRAM?
It is one of the most important contests, especially because it takes into account small producers, and thus one can help to complete activities and make improvements that failed to give the harvest. Besides the competition has motivated me to improve my coffee production system to compete again.
