Tamerat Edema Basay started coffee trade as a local supplier in 2013 and became an exporter in 2019. He has 51 hectares of land and works on an additional 120 hectares through an outgrower scheme. He produces 120,000 kilograms of dry natural 7410 and 7412 varieties at his processing station in West Guji zone, Hambala Wamana woreda, Sika Bokosa kebele. Tamerat is familiar with the export market, with 60 percent of his buyers being from Korea, China, and Thailand, 20 percent from the US, and 20 percent from Europe.
Tamerat’s coffee scored 85.79 to become one of the national winners. “We should continue this momentum for quality and have the upper hand in this modern market system,” said Tamerat.
