Jauja was one of the first coffee farms of the prestigious Antigua region. It is located at 1,550 meters above sea level and it has gifted soils. So gifted that the mother tree of the worldwide avocado Hass variety was found in Jauja during the 1940s. The family that owns it was well known for their coffee production, but the younger generations didn’t have interest in the business. Therefore, Ricardo Zelaya started renting this beautiful farm in 2010. After replanting and doing all the agricultural labors that had to be done, the quality of the coffee has been getting better each year.
Ricardo Zelaya is a member of the fourth generation of coffee producers of the Zelaya family. Since 1986, he has been committed to innovate and adapt in order to ensure excellence in every step of the coffee production chain. Ricardo, along with his valued team, is devoted to produce the highest quality coffee in the world and continuously increase his farms’ social and environmental responsibilities.
