Name and Location of the Farm:
The Farm is located in Natural Reserve Dantali-Cerro El Diablo, in the Municipality Of Jinotega, Jinotega. It is in an area of cloud forest weather, to an altitude of 1,300 mosl and has an annual average rainfall of 2,500 mm.
The Farm has by name “Renovación” (Renovation), because when I started to work I proposed myself to improve changing everything on it y I decided renew my life too.
Tell us The Farm History:
I´m the owner of the farm “La Renovación” since year 1995, which is heritage from my father. It has an extension of 10 Apples of land, from which 7 are from productive Coffee, 1 is from growing coffee, variety Java. It produces 280 Quintals from hybrid variety (Rsudan x Caturra), Caturra plants from more than 50 years old, and few plants of Pacamara. Also has an extension of 2 Apples of land from Forest in preservation.
Family Generations:
My family is integrated firstly by my wife Ruth Cortez and my two children, Caleb Davila Ortez and Zoe Davila Ortez. For a total of four family members.
What is your secret for winning the competition?
The secret is trusting in God and His promise, and cut the ripe coffee, and wash it with clean water and eventually, ferments that depends from weather.
How do you feel to have been a winner?
It feels excellent, inasmuch as is nice to know that my coffee has quality that excels, this is my first time I participate in Cup of Excellence and here we are, as Winners in the Event, this encourages me to improve certain practices from handling, because the coffee has quality but, is the handling which guarantee that quality feels in the cup.
What do you think about the Cup of Excellence?
It is an opportunity to the Producers to achieve new and better markets of Specialty Coffee in the World, and that allow us to obtain financial profitability sustainable to our farms.
