The Farm La luz y la sombra del Janeiro is located in the region of Las Mercedes at 2 km north of the Municipality of San Rafael, Jinotega.
Tell us The Farm History:
This farm was acquired in 1993, it was gift to my sisters-in-law, from my father-in-law Jose Ramon Pineda. It was a farm dedicated to the production of sugarcane, in the same year that it was acquired he began to cultivate small coffee areas with his own effort, to a height of 1250 mosl 26 Apples of land, its geographical location in Mountain range Isabelia, produces a quality coffee.
Family Generations:
This is the third family generation, which is integrated by 5 members between father, mother and children.
What is your secret for winning the competition?
Principally the variety Catuai, because is not a mix of varieties and work which is by women who strive to be more efficient at work and also good practices in wet mill and dry mill process.
How do you feel to have been a winner?
I feel very happy and glad, with a lot of motivation to continue struggling to keep ahead and make best practices on my farm.
What do you think about the Cup of Excellence?
I think it is a chance that allows us to sell the coffee we produce to better prices and in different market niches.
