About the farm:
The farm El progreso is located in the community El Volcan, municipality of Dipilto, Department of Nueva Segovia, Nicaragua . The altitude of the farm is 1400 m above the sea level and with 1600 mm rainfall per year and sandy loam. The temperature varies between 19ºC and 27ºC. The farm is a winner in the Cup of Excellence competition in 2006. I am already 20 years owner of this farm. The total property area is 8 mz out of which 6mz are cultivated with coffee and at the present I produce 80 QQ of coffee. The varieties are catuai, caturra, maracatu and Bourbón.

My family is composed of seven members, my wife and five children and myself.
What is the secret of your success?
The secret is in the good treatment and protection of the quality from the beginning, before the harvesting, until the harvesting, actually during all the production process and of course the good management in the dry mill.
How do you feel being a winner of the Cup of Excellence Nicaragua 2010?
I feel really satisfied and thankful with the creator of the universe since our efforts were not in vain and I know that this will help me to improve my family conditions and continue the production of high quality coffee.

I think that the Cup of Excellence is an opportunity for all the small producers because it allows us to reach better prices and moreover to have recognition at national and international level for the quality of our coffee.
