Josué Nahún Fernández Sabillon - Don Andrés
Nahún is the 3rd generation of coffee growers in the area of Las Flores, Santa Barbara, but at age 16 that he began to work independently, when his father inherited him a farm that has more than 20 years. A big challenge in front of him was to cultivate the farm. It was not easy considering the climatic conditions of the area and he had to walk two hours to reach it. After 4 years he had savings and managed to buy a little more than 2 hectares of land in the same area. In 2007 he was asked by the San Vicente exporter to take samples of coffee since it had potential for specialty coffees, that same year he participated in Cup of Excellence competition, being selected for the auction, at that time managed to sell well their coffee. Problem of rust attack occurred nationwide in 2011 and Nahún´s farm was no exception, he lost the harvest and the majority of plantation. He and his family looked for financing to start again and renewed all the plantations, so far they are still paying the loan of that funding to a banking institution of the State. Currently he has recovered from the ' rust crisis ' and is willing to continue working for the quality of its coffee, and hopes to use the money paid for their coffee to renew solar dryers since they are very damaged, and for the next crop you want to acquire a system for evaluating different types of processes in the fermentation and drying of coffee.
