Muyongwe washing station, located in the Gakenke district of the Northern Rwanda Province, was created in 2006 as part of the Tuzamure Kawa cooperative system. Twelve people began the operation including Antoine Urimubenshi who acted as the mill manager and cooperative president from 2006 until 2010 In 2010, due to the global financial crisis, Urimubenshi bought the cooperative from the member farmers in order to continue production.
During years, Muyongwe earned a reputation for quality coffee, and Due the dedicated work of all farmers together, they have been performing remarkably as they won the first position in golden cup competition in 2007 and since then they have been being awarded cup of excellence awards at several occasion (5th in 2008, 15th in 2010, and 7th in 2013)
Beside the cup of excellence competitions, they were able to perform well and won appreciation at Easy Africa Fine Coffee Association “EAFCA” in 2009.
