In the early 1900’s San Antonio started producing coffee mainly with Typica and Bourbón varietals at a height of 4,500- 5,000fasl surrounded by cypress and pine forests that belongs to the Fraijanes coffee region. Nowadays with an extension of about 50ha of production area the farm has introduced other varietals such as caturra, villasarchi and catuai.
The farm is surrounded by two small rivers that provide enough water to the coffee plants along with the natural forest from more than 100 years old, and shade trees that helps to regulate the intensity of sunlight and creating a special microclimate that allows a nice ripening to the bean which results positively on the cup profile mainly in acidity and body.
The farm´s rich biodiversity permits the coexistence of different species of birds such as: Trocones, Doves, Parrots, Hawks and many others together with fantastical little runners like rabbits, squirrels, and raccoons.
Another extraordinary fact about San Antonio El Bosque is that it is located at just 22 miles from Guatemala City, which makes it very easy to visit in any time of the year.
There is a small wood log cabin for the visitors to rest for a while and enjoy the beautiful and splendor environment of the nature and the farm. For the ones that like to walk the farm is totally walkable but there is also AWD cars that can give you a ride.
Every year San Antonio provides medical assistance, school material for the kids, and conscientious education about the importance of keeping the environment free of contamination, hunting and deforestation.
