Montes de Oro is a family bussiness. The Gamboa Family has been in the coffee business for four generatios. In 2006, the family decided to open a micromill to be able to process their own coffee and to sell it directly to their own clients.
Finca El Yasal was bought in 1980. It is a 50 ha farm that is located between Ojo de Agua and Santa Rosa de Leon Cortés, in Tarrazu Region. It is between 2050 and 2100 m.o.s.l. Half or the farm has primary and secundary forest. For 30 years it was dedicated to cattle but in 2010 we decided to grow coffee. At this time, it has 5 ha with coffee plants. Most of the pickers that comes in harvest season have come for about 10 years to our farms, that is very important because they have become experts in picking only ripe cherries.
