Overview

La Trinidad was bought by Jose Francisco Nunez around 1890. He inherited his 3 children giving her daughter, Matilde Nunez Arrue “La Trinidad”, she worked the farm all of her life until 1996, then she sold the the farm to his nephew Francisco Eduardo Nunez Iraheta who nowadays is managing all the works at the farm. He started it with the wise decision of planting Bourbón variety throughout the estate. After the devastating earthquake that shook El Salvador in 2001, people fled and there was a lack of laborers to work the land, forcing producers from this area to neglect some farms for a while, giving way to its complete abandonment for a few years. By mid-2005 Francisco Eduardo decided to work the farm and reconvert it into a productive one. About 100 people works in the farm during picking season. La Trinidad tries to help to the community by offering job for unemployed young people to invest their time on productive things and keep them away from any bad habits. La Trinidad gave much support to the creation of an NGO 10 years ago called FUNDA TEPECOYO which built primary schools, kindergartens and clinics in conjunction with FUSADES, Tepecoyo municipality and the citizens of the route of Tepecoyo. All cultural practices are 100% environmentally friendly, they make soil conservation practices and right now they are replanting the farm so they can achieve next year an average of 3000 trees per manzana.
