NAME AND LOCATION OF THE FARM:
El Coco farm produces certified organic and Fairtrade since 2005, located 8 km north of the town of San Juan del Rio Coco - Madriz, with 20% slope and over 18 species of shade trees, what is leading to increase wildlife habitat.
TELL US THE FARM HISTORY:
The farm El Coco was the purchase to Agustin Cerda Guerrero in 1951, in 2005 we integrate the Organic program in order to improve a little coffee prices, from the year 2010 with the profit generated by the farm, and we invest in coffee plantations of Caturra variety.
FAMILY GENERATIONS:
The farm belongs to the family 64 years ago, are involved all family members in the work of the farm. My children and my wife help me in the management and administration of the crop, I have seven children and two grandchildren.
WHICH IS YOUR SECRET FOR WINNING THE COMPETITION?
Diversification shade caturra conservation variety, agronomic management of the crop at the right time, a good wet processing and dry coffee.
HOW DO YOU FEEL OF BEEN ONE OF THE WINNERS?
Very happy, being a small farmer with more than 50 years involved in the cultivation of coffee and being in the list of winners and to participate in the electronic auction, with the ability to better sell the product

It is the first time I participate and I am happy I got the place and in the years to try to improve and be in a better position

It is a very exciting event that encourages the producer and where the farmer realizes how important it is to preserve the varieties that give good cup and have the opportunity to meet buyers willing to pay more for coffees with these attributes.
