La Guatuza
The farm is located in the east part of El Salvador, in the town of Berlin, Usulután, the
cultivated are of coffee is 2 hectares, at slopes of the Tecapa Volcano, with altitude of 1500 to 1550 Meters above sea level.
The farm owner is Gilberto Baraona, who is a 4th generation coffee farmer, and has been in the Baraona family since 1889.
La Guatuza is a first time COE placement winner, the farm is exceptional, due to the optimal specialty coffee growing conditions, volcanic soil, cold climate, annual rain amount, and solar exposure.
Currently the primary varietals in production are: Bourbon and Pacas. The farm process washed, honeys, and naturals, with natural and mechanical fermentation process.
This microlot is a Pacas Varietal, washed coffee, natural Fermented at controlled temperature, sun dry in raised African beds for 12days.
The farm provides permanent employment to more than 2 persons, and all proceeds from the COE, are re-invest in the farm and its workers.
