Description: Finca El Barril, located at the foot of Cerro Mogoton (highest point in Nicaragua with 2107 masl).
It was acquired by my father Mauricio Jiménez in 1996; When my father passed away, it became a legacy of 5 brothers.
Initially the property was abandoned, and it was in 2006 that we decided to seek financing to establish coffee cultivation, consisting of a CAFÉ-ECOFORESTAL system.
The name of the Farm EL BARRIL, is due to the topography of the land, it is a form of a barrel.
The variety of coffee is MARACATURRA.
Total area: 95 manzanas.
Productive Areas: 12.

We are currently 9 members of the Family, where 4 brothers involved 100% of the time in the work of the farm.
* What were the good practices that you implemented that made it the winner of the Cup of Excellence program?
We work with love, dedication and dedication to the cultivation of coffee.
In the Finca el Barril only the cherry is cut only ripe, the cherry is selected and cleaned, then it is pulped dry, it is deposited in the fermentation piles, giving it a constant follow-up in the fermentation time, then we wash and transfer it immediately to the Dry Benefit of Caravela Nicaragua, where the drying is based on African beds under shade and a total monitoring in its traceability and production.
* How does it feel to be one of the winners?
I am grateful first to God for the opportunity to become a finalist.

* In what will you invest the profits you obtain from the cup of excellence?
Re-investing in the infrastructure of the farm to create better conditions for our workers.

Yes, I have participated since 2014.

The event is very important as it helps us to promote our coffees to a better market and a better price.
