Rafael owns a two hectares farm where he produces, Caturra, Castillo and Colombia F6 both yellow and red. He is a second generation coffee producer, after living in Villavicencio for 14 years working in other non related coffee industries, he moved back to the farm due to some health issues. He explains that one of the hardest part of producing coffee is having to sell it to cooperatives that at the end will mix it with other coffees knowing how much effort was invested to produce a product of quality.
In the last few years, Rafael has been following his technical assistant advice who has helped him to participate in local contests which has brought him better prices and a new perspective in the specialty coffee production.
Last year he was told that he could participate in Cup of Excellence with his Caturra washed which has allowed him to place 28th in the final round giving him the opportunity to bring this coffee to international buyers around the world.
