About the farm:

The farm is located in Tomayunca community, surrounded by mountains and beautiful panoramic views near the lake Apanas and the mountains of Jinotega region. The altitude of the farm is 1200 m above the sea level and the farm has excellent conditions for production of high quality coffee. I bought this farm 13 years ago. I gradually expanded my property and today I have 80 mz of coffee plantation with an average production of 2500 QQ per year. The coffee varieties are: Tekisic, Pacamara y Caturra.

About his family:

I have a wife, three children and one grandchild. I come from a family of coffee producers, my parents were the fourth generation. My family started to produce coffee in the XIV century.

What is the secret of your success?

To cut just the red, ripe beans, de-pulp the same day, and to wash immediately; good fermentation, dry patch and transportation to the dry mill.

How do you feel being a winner of the Cup of Excellence Nicaragua 2010?

First of all I feel great satisfaction that my coffee reached so high ranking by internationally recognized panel of judges. This achievement is a culmination of long expectations since we have been participating in the Cup of Excellence for various years. We want to share this recognition with all our coworkers; it is a result of a good team work and a good farm management as well as good coffee processing in the wet and dry mill.

From the beginning I was thinking that the Cup of Excellence brings a motivation, as a prime factor for rebuild the prestige of the coffee of Nicaragua . The Cup of Excellence motivates us to work and act, focused in obtaining the best quality in the Centro American region and thus to get confidence in the most prestigious markets of the world.
