Overview
San Jose el Valenton is a traditional coffee farm located in Villa Canales, 31 km from Guatemala City. They produced at 4.500 feet over sea level two coffee varieties: Bourbón (80%), Catuai (20%) and Pacas. The harvest season is from November to January. The coffee in San Jose el Valenton is produced with tradition and vocation. The property has belonged to the same family since 1896 and it was inherited generation to generation. Our family works hard to produce high quality coffee with the same dedication and passion since the beginning in 1915, when was planted the first coffee tree. Around 1950 was built the first wet mill, which means that in San Jose el Valenton we have 60 year of experience processing coffee. Later in 2000, it was built a new ecological wet mill that eliminated the environmental contamination and has reduced water consumption (only 7 mts ³ daily). The topography in the coffee farm is mountainous; with rich and fertile soils that are important to produce great coffees. We are very concerned about environment so we have special care for our water sources, due we have eight in the farm and a beautiful and important river crossed one area of the property. The coffee and shade trees are also an important home for different animals, migratory and local birds. In San Jose el Valenton we produced around 159.091 kilos of coffee that is processed in an ecological wet mill, with capability of process 250 cherry beans by hour. All our coffee is sun dry in patios. As far as quality concerns we trained our employees in different topics and in different institutions, such as: Quality and cupping, Coffee wet mill process; Sustainable Coffee; Cupping Seminars; Quality control by Anacafe; Technician in automotive by Yulimay School; Public Administration expert by Instituto Nocturno Humanidades; Company organization, Human risk prevention; Human relations at work, Administrative control in Coffee business and Windows and Office, by Intecap; Care for critical patines, by Hospital San Pablo and Auxiliary Nurse Course by Madre Teresa de Jesus technical nurse Academy.
