Finca La Gloria is currently under the management of a private company named La Gloria S.A. de C.V., although the owner for the past 60 year or more was Mrs. Graciela Caceres de Martinez, who recently passed away on May 14 2013.
La Gloria farm is located at the border of the spectacular crater of the San Salvador Volcano. It was a wedding gift for Ms. Graciela Caceres by her father-in-law, General Maximiliano Hernández Martínez (former president of El Salvador ) in 1944, and it constitutes a family patrimony of great historical and sentimental value.
La Gloria is a small farm of about 10 hectares of genuine Bourbón and Arabigo coffee trees, which are in average 90 years old. Its high elevation of about 1,700 meters above sea level in average in addition to its agro-climatologic conditions, contributes to the production of a cup that surprises: delicious sweetness and roundness in body, excellent acidity, and exquisite floral flavor, with delicate citric notes, caramel and chocolate-like hints.
These cup characteristics have made possible for La Gloria farm to win in Cup of Excellence in both opportunities it has participated, first time in 2003 and now ten years later at the 2013 edition, which also confirms its outstanding organoleptic virtues.
The key of this noticeable coffee quality is the abundant rainfall over its fertile volcanic soils during six months of the year, and the varietals purity of the Arabigo (father of Bourbón) and Red Bourbón that grow with vitality at an ideal temperature of 20 ºC in average, along to the solar light that in the remaining coffee cycle, penetrates its traditional shade and it confers to the bean a perfect ripeness at harvesting time.
This farm is probably one of the last safe havens for wildlife in the entire volcano and it is the highest peak close to San Salvador city. These natural conditions serve as a shelter for many different mountain fauna species, such as eagles and deer, among others.
La Gloria farm, a beautiful ecological orchard, small in size but extraordinary by the noticeable quality of its coffee -one of the best in El Salvador –, is an admirable example of the new Salvadoran coffee culture that is now available for the most demanding palates around the world.
