The coffee washing station was built in 2010 with objective to process high quality special coffee into lots for special market. We keep our coffee plantations properly and respect all technical best agronomical practices which help us to produce the best coffee in Rwanda,The variety is Arabica Bourbón grown at altitude between 1900 and 2400 meters above sea level and an ambient temperature varying from 17 to 23 oC, a reliable wet season and rich volcanic soil growing conditions that are ideal for the production of high quality coffee.
Huye Mountain Coffee is carefully handpicked, washed properly, well sorted after fermentation step, sun dried on dry tables and hand sorted to ensure only the best coffee beans are processed for our customers.
We fine tune every step of the process for excellence in every single cup from our plantations to the cup.
The coffee washing station is owned and operated by 140 growers who take initiative to produce the best coffee in the field and it is headed by Rubanzangabo David who is a grower and an agronomist specialist in Rwanda coffee sector. The income of coffee production to the farmers and the profits made by Huye Mountain Coffee are used to resolve social and economic deficiencies residing in the community like health insurance, saving, school fees for kids, food security and purchase of livestock; that are helping to ensure a better livelihood of coffee growers and their families.
