History of the farmFazenda Serra
dos Crioulos belongs to a society of siblings, who acquired lands around
their mothers farm, where quality coffee was already grown. Eliane is
the wife of one of the siblings.With this, conditions were created
to expand the coffee-planting areas and use a common area to process the
beans, thus decreasing the consumption of water and energy.We
are also dedicated to the noble art of raising Mangalarga Marchador
horses, another great passion of the family. We have breeding the horses
since the 50s, always focusing on the gait as the main objective. The employees live in the city, close to 200 meters from the coffee
crops, which minimizes energy expenses with the commute to work. They
are all literate and their children study in public schools in the city. On the farm, saplings from endangered and native species of trees
are grown. These saplings are planted along the banks of the rivers,
preserving the riparian forests and thus revitalizing the ecology. The
preservation of springs is an important point, which will guarantee
abundant and high-quality water to future generations. The resources
that nature offers must be administered in a fair way, thus enabling the
production of specialty coffees without degrading the environment.
Coffee production systemThe harvest of the
coffee beans is selective, transporting them four times per day to
processing areas and pulping them, which avoids the start of
fermentation. After the pulping process, the beans are spread on
concrete drying patios, where they receive special attention in order to
conserve the superior qualities supplied by the land, sun, climate and
elevation of the region. We thus seek not to interfere in the intrinsic
quality of the coffee beans. After drying, the beans are taken to rest
boxes, and only after a good period are processed, thus guaranteeing the
quality of the coffeeConcern about quality As a philosophy, the properties prize socioenvironmental responsibility
and personal dedication in the search for production with excellence. As
a result, our coffees our coffees have already been exported to several
countries, also winning the following awards:BSCA - CUP OF EXCELLENCE - finalist of the Cup of
Excellence Contest in the 2002, 2003, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011
