Farami is a farm that takes uses all of its organic agricultural residues, becoming a sustainable farm by itself. We have 25 breed pigs, 1500 fattening chickens, 8 sheep, 3 goats and 50 laying hens, ducks, and gooses among others. We also have a green house in which we dried coffee on African beds in the dry season and we grow tomatoes in the winter.
We produce organic fertilizer from all the animals and adding the mucilage of the coffee, this compost is then applied to the coffee plantation. The farm has 2 bio-digesters that produce gas use for cooking in our house; this gas comes from the animal feces and the coffee juices.
The area of the coffee plantation is 5 ha, located at 1750-1800 m.a.s.l. In total, the house, the coffee mill, the farm and the greenhouse, are set on an area of 3.916 meters.
We had not applied any herbicide in the last 14 years and we produce from 100 to 200 fanegas of coffee, all of it is processed. This farm was inherited by both our families and that is why we called it FARAMI, which is the result of the combination of both surnames: FALLAS and RAMIREZ. In 2013 we won the 3rd place in Cup of Excellence.
We strive to be in harmony with the environment and obtain a successful crop.
