1955 my grandparents traveled by foot, from San Lorenzo (Nariño), to southern Huila, inspection Bruselas where they settled. In 1960 I began planting Arabica coffee (Typica variety) for household consumption. I was born on October 3 in Bruselas and raised among coffee. I started growing coffee at the age of 13 and my dad gave me 0.5 hectares in coffee, then I bought him another piece of land and then to the neighbors until to get what I have a total today of 8.2 hectares in different farms counting “El Recuerdo” with 2.5 hectares.

My wife Gladys Ortega met her in 1995, whose family origins are also coffee, I studied only primary school at that time I had to support my parents on the farm and had no further financial resources.

Together with my wife we have a good team as well at home and at work, always thinking of producing one of the best coffees of Colombia . Today my family is made __up of two daughters, Nataly age of 16 who finished high school and is studying to be a teacher, Cindy who is 10 and is studying 4th primary and the house worship Danna Gabriela our granddaughter who is 13 months being born.

In my farm “El Recuerdo” we are conserving the environment, we are planting trees and taking care of the small river “El Pencil” because from there is where the whole inspection of Bruselas is supplying water from it.

In the future we want some of our daughters to keep the farm and optimize the administration to maintain the production of one of the best high quality coffees of Colombia .
