Richard Navarro is a farmer by tradition; he comes from a coffee producing family. His father, Mr. Ismael Navarro, has participated, two times, in Cup of Excellence. But this year was Richard´s turn and became a finalist as a reward of his perseverance and tgreat work he does on his farms. He uses innovative agronomical methods in nutrition and the management of the plantation.
The farm is located in the west part of the Tarrazú Region, in the micro region of Frailes de Desamparados, on the upper part as stated on its name Frailes Arriba. At an altitude of 1600 meters above sea level, is planted with the Caturra and Catuaí varities and perfectly harvested at its ripest moment.
This lot shows an excellent coordination between the coffee producer and the milling: once the cherries are harvested, they are immediately carried to the Café de Altura de San Ramón mill to receive a delicate process. This year they did a honey process and then the coffee was slowly dried in patios, all under the high quality standards of this mill.
This lot is a perfect example of the importance of strategic alliances of small producers, who do not have their own micro-mill, and big mills like Café de Altura de San Ramón. This producers are chosen to participate on the Micro Lot Program of Altura de San Ramón thanks to their excelent quality and hard work.
