Histroy Mr. Claros comes from hard working family. Since he was child he started learning about coffee production by participating in the coffee activities in his friends farms. Making a big effort Mr. Claros mother send him to the university and support him during this time until he graduated from administration. When he came back to the town of Marcala he started looking for his own farm and In 1994 he got his first coffee farm of about 1 hectare. 11 years after Mr. Claros owns a 30 hectares coffee farm and is among the best coffee producer of Honduras . Quality Practices The coffee is processed under traditional methods using his own miller, it is dry using mesh and a cement platform located in the farm. No chemical pesticides are used and the waste water is treated in special water ponds. Classification canals are used to separate the high, medium and low quality coffee.
Environmental Care
To protect the environment Mr. Claros avoid the application of chemical pesticides. None or minimum contamination of the water bodies or soils is done since the waste water is treated in lagoons. He also produces fertilize by treating the coffee pulp with the Californian Earth worm (Eisenia foetida). Fertilization Fertilization is done with bio-fertilizer coming from treating the Coffee pulp with the Californian earthworm ( Eisenia foetida). Tow applications of mineral supplements at years are done. Selective prunes are done to stimulate coffees production. Disease and Pest Control For pest control cultural practices and biological components are used. No chemical pesticides are applied. Harvesting Handpicking of ripe grains of Coffee begins in January and finish in April. This task is performed by skillful men and woman. Pulping and Fermentation Mr. Claros has a small infrastructure for wet milling. There are two fermentation tanks, an a pulping machine.
