Overview
Antigua Guatemala , Sacatepequez, is a traditional coffee region where is located the coffee farm Pavon. They have 8.31 hectares, at 5,080 feet over sea level, producing Bourbón coffee. The name Pavon comes from the original owner Mr. Manuel Francisco Pavon who died on 1855. Mr. Pavon worked in the agricultural department at 1844, for that reason he had literature and catalogues related to different agricultural products including coffee. On that time Pavon only produces indigo. Pavon was sold on 1855 to Mr. Antonio Diaz Duran, on that time it has had an extension of 53 hectares; was on that time that they begun the coffee plantation. Then Pavon has inherited for Antonio Duran Irungaray who continued planting Bourbón coffee. Around 1930 Mr. Antonio applied new techniques on the farm and begun to produce brown sugar in loaf. Later, on 1955 Pavon was manager for Antonio Duran Rodil who sold some areas of the faro to Nestle, because he thought that will be to difficult to manage a coffe faro for his daughters. Mr. Antonio died and the coffee farm was left. Actually and since 1997 Pavon is manage for Mrs. Marina Duran Pellicer, Mr. Antonio Duran daughter. She worked hard and now they are producing great quality coffee again. Besides coffee production, they have a beautiful place as part of Pavon that is use to have different social events.
