Overview:
Mr. Bernardo Chavez was born on January 5th of 1950, in Narino department; he is 60 years old. He and other two farmers decided to have the representation of small coffee growers and participate at the CoE 2010 competition to show the quality coffee from their region Yacuanquer, this is a municipality with a little bit of tradition in coffee, but it took influences from other municipalities that have an important coffee participation and legendary history in coffee already, those ones are Consaca and Sandona The benefit structure is poor among these small farmers but the optimistic desire of improvement for the future is supported in the fact and the tangible activity that they see the harvest like something promissory. Inside the farm the hand work is done by his family which is a movement to a major integration in social terms. The farm has a micro-weather perfect to the coffee harvest, the members of the group try to use the minimum quantity of herbicides in the crop, and they use sub-products from coffee like pulp. The rivers are trying to be conserved through the plantation of native species of trees, besides has a several species of trees inside the farm; fauna at the region is protected by the farmers like Bernardo who disagree with hunting.
